PGMA vows support to Malimono bridges’ rehab

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has ordered the Department of Public Works and Highways thru Presidential Management Staff Secretary Cerge Remonde for the rehabilitation of two bridges in Malimono, Surigao del Norte during her visitation to the municipality today.

According to the President, the need for the repair of the two bridges is of priority concern so that transport of food and other products to and from the municipality will be made easy and fast.

The President added, it has been a long time since her scheduled visit to the municipality was cancelled and since then, she is longing to fulfill that promise to the people of Malimono to bring the social services.

When the first schedule of my visit here was cancelled, I was still hoping that my plan to visit Malimono to personally know what are the needs of the people here that will be given priority concerns), the President said.

And because of other functions that I had attended in Butuan City yesterday, I’m so glad that, at last, my desire to visit you here in Malimono is realized”, Pres. Arroyo said.

President Arroyo also said, she has instructed Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Caraga Regional Director Romeo Momo to estimate the budget needed for the rehabilitation of the two bridges. However, the President said that she asked Surigao del Norte 2nd District Representative, Cong. Guillermo Romarate, the local government Executives of Surigao del Norte and the municipality of Malimono for their counterparts in realizing the project.

(”Since the two bridges that needs to be repaired are not located within the restriction of the national road, I am asking Cong. Guillermo Romarate and the local government units of Surigao del Norte and the municipality of Malimono to give their counterpart so that the rehabilitation will be made soon”), she said.

Meanwhile, the President said that the counterpart of the national government for the rehabilitation of the said projects will be drawn from the calamity fund. (PIA)
