Economic boom continues to spur in this nickel city of Northeastern Mindanao as a leading domestic carrier is expected to increase its flights due to the continuing demand, it was learned Tuesday.
Surigao del Norte Rep. Francisco T. Matugas said the additional air and sea services including cargo-handling operations need to step up due to the increasing demand.
“More tourist arrivals, both foreign and domestic, were noted, that’s why this province and the city need more air and sea craft,” said Matugas.
It was gathered that Cebu Pacific (CEB) will increase its flights effective January 13, 2010 to stimulate the travel market in this northeastern tip city and province of the Caraga Region.
It was also gathered that Cebu Pacific has flights in Surigao every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
However, by January next year, passengers can have more options with an additional Wednesday frequency.
The lowest possible year-round “Go Lite” fare for the Cebu-Surigao route is around P788. While those with check-in luggage will just add P100 upon booking.
“We are very happy to be able to add more flights to our Surigao route, since this can help stimulate tourism and economy in the area. Our guests now have more options for their Cebu Pacific flights, and can maximize our extensive domestic network and schedule to connect to other destinations after Cebu,” said Cebu Pacific vice president for marketing and distribution Candice Iyog.
