NGCP announces scheduled power interruption in parts of Surigao Norte, Surigao Sur, entire Siargao Island

BUTUAN CITY - The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced on Thursday, the scheduled shutdown of the transmission facilities in some areas of Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and entire Siargao Island from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Milfrance Q. Capulong, NGCP Mindanao Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Officer, said the Surigao del Norte Electric Cooperative (SURNECO), Siargao Island Electric Cooperative (SIARELCO) and Surigao del Sur Electric Cooperative (SURSECO II)  are the affected distribution utilities.

Capulong said the specific cities and municipalities that will be affected by the power interruption include the municipalities of Alegria, Mainit, Tubod, Placer, Bacuag, Gigaquit and Claver, Surigao del Norte; Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte; and municipalities of Carrascal, Cantilan, Madrid, Carmen and Lanuza, Surigao del Sur.

NGCP explained to its customers and the public clients that the power interruption was due to the re-scheduled tapping of newly re-routed section from structures BM321 up to BM325 at Adlay, Carrascal, Surigao del Sur, affected by road widening of the Department of Public Works and Highways and rehabilitation of four critical structures.

Normal power operations will immediately resume after the work completion.
