Two men missing at sea — PCG

By Alvin T. Guanzon
A fisherman was reported missing when a boat capsized off the coast of Barangay Manjagao, Surigao City during a tropical storm at the weekend, police said.
A spokesman for the Caraga Police Regional Office said Rolando Moster, 43, of Barangay Bitaugan in Surigao City swam to shore but his cousin, Edilito Moster, 38, was reported missing and was believed carried by strong current and huge waves caused by Tropical Storm Basyang last Friday.
“Rolando Moster was rescued in the adjacent Tagana-an in Surigao del Norte the following day,” the spokesman said.
The two men were on their way to Tagana-an when they encountered the strong waves. Rescuers have given up the search for the missing man.
In Carabao and Boracay islands, coast guard divers were searching for a 27-year-old man, who jumped off the passenger boat, Starlite Atlantic, Coast Guard chief information officer Cdr. Armand Balilo said.
He said Adonis Recio of Bago Bantay, Quezon City, was with another passenger, who saw him jumped overboard around 3 p.m. last Tuesday and ship captain Sheila Picpican immediately reported the incident to the Coast Guard Station in Caticlan.
A search and rescue operation was launched in the area but after two hours the Starlite Atlantic resumed its voyage to Caticlan to unload its passengers, Balilo said. With Joel Zurbano/ManilaStandard
