PBMLP Pushes More Investments, Support to P-Noy's Development Agenda

The business agenda of the new leadership of the Provincial Board Members League of the Philippines to all provincial legislative body is to attract more investments that make the respective provinces more economically globally competitive in the years ahead.

The new leadership of PBMLP-Caraga region also leads to adopt President Benigno S. Aquino lll to make “Philippines country-side more developed and progressive”.

“I join and adopt the exhortations of P-Noy: let us harness the energies of dialogue, solidarity, and communal responsibility. With these, we can never waver with our aspirations for our respective provinces,” stressed Surigao del Norte Senior Provincial Board (SPB) member Honorable Myrna M. Romarate.

SP Romarate was elected as the new president of the PBMLP in Northeastern Mindanao (Caraga region) during the two-day league’s convention at downtown hotel and convention center here on Tuesday and Wednesday (Sept. 28, 29).

SP Romarate is the wife of Surigao del Norte solon Rep. Guillermo A. Romarate, Jr. (2nd district).

She ran unopposed as the SP Members of Caraga showed an unprecedented show of solidarity and unity in choosing her as their new president.

SP Member Romarate will travel to Manila to represent Caraga Region in the national convention of PBMLP next week.

"Your support has meant the difference being just public servants and being dedicated and impassioned public officials,” she said in her inaugural speech as the new PBMLP president.

“This is my first step in the halls of PBMLP, and my most important one. I join and adopt the exhortations of P-Noy: let us harness the energies of dialogue, solidarity, and communal responsibility. With these, we can never waver with our aspirations for our respective provinces,” said SP Romarate.

"We have a lot of work ahead of us, but if you are ready, I am. I believe with all my heart that together we will turn our propositions into actions and words into solutions. We will turn hope in the chambers of our respective Sangguniang Panlalawigan into reality,” she said.

She added: “We will break the barriers and open Caraga to more investments, more jobs, more infrastructure projects, improved social services and quality life to its people".

She further added that more investments, more infrastructure projects and improved social services will also increase tax revenues to local coffers, employment and livelihood to villagers, particularly those in far-flung areas.

“We must give more emphasis in our legislative agenda – open investments and more infrastructure projects that will accelerate and boost our respective local economy,” she said.

Meanwhile, Surigao del Norte solon Rep. Francisco T. Matugas (1st district), his wife Surigao del Norte Gov. Sol F. Matugas and other provincial, city and municipal chief executive lauded the election of SP Romarate as the new PBMLP head in the Caraga region, and saying in unison “A lady legislator who has a vision to make the provinces of this region and other provinces in the country to make economically stable and globally competitive.

Caraga region comprises the fast-growing agricultural, mining, wood and tourism-rich provinces of Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Agusan del Sur and the cities of Surigao, Bislig and the region’s capital city of Butuan. (MB)
