16,366 foreign job openings is set in Surigao City mega job’s fair

At least 16,366 job openings for overseas workers is set in Surigao City mega job’s fair in the first week of next month.

Ms. Annette Lovete, head programs and services of Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) for Northeastern Mindanao (Caraga region) said these foreign job openings are open to all professionals, skilled workers and domestic helpers.

This one-day mega job’s fair is slated on June 7, this year at Surigao del Norte Provincial Gymnasium, in Surigao City.

She said several accredited recruitment agencies of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) are participating from as far as Cebu, Manila, Davao, Cagayan de Oro and this region’s capital city, to conduct direct hiring to those interested applicants who wanted to work abroad.

“This is a big opportunity to foreign job seekers in Caraga region and even in other neighboring region’s in Mindanao,” said Ms. Lovete.

She said this mega jobs fair is one of the major activity in this year’s celebration of the “Migrant Workers Day-Araw ng Pasasalamat”, with the theme: “OFW’s: Tagumpay sa Hamon ng Panahon, Kaagapay sa Pagsulong”. The celebration is participated by all concerned government agencies led by OWWA Regional Director Marieta Arcena Lumawag.

This big celebration pays tribute to the courage, patriotism, struggles and economic contributions of migrant workers in many parts of the globe.

The Surigao City celebration will be participated by more than 3,000 OFW’s, along with their respective families coming from various provinces, cities and municipalities in the Caraga region, she said.

During the one-day activity, a livelihood and trade fair seminar will also be conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DoST) and TESDA.

In that one-day celebration, a medical and dental mission will also be conducted by the government and private doctors, nurses, midwives and other medical workers coming from various government and private entities spearheaded by the Department of Health (DoH), Philippine Charity Sweptakes Office (PCSO), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP).

Awarding of Outstanding OFC’s and OFW’s and cash awards from Globe Communication and cultural presentation will also take place during the celebration, added Ms. Lovete.

The OWWA-Regional Welfare Office (RWO) in partnership with the OFW Family Circles in Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands will spearhead this year’s celebration in Surigao City, she further added. (PNA)
