Surigao City gets e-tricycle for low-carbon pathway project

Surigao City Mayor Alfonso Casurra will accept an electric tricycle (Etrike) donated by the British embassy in Manila in ceremonies on May 4, late Tuesday morning, at the Surigao City gymnasium near City Hall.

The donation is in line with a bilateral project to determine the viability and sustainability of alternative sources of electricity such as solar power for Etrikes in support of a private-sector driven initiative in cities in Mindanao towards a low-carbon, economically viable pathway, the embassy said.

The embassy's climate change Attaché, Angela Ibay, will present the donation.

The Islas Ecology Development Advocacy (ISDA) Foundation is hosting the turnover ceremony. The British Embassy has donated a solar-powered charging station and an additional Etrike to the Foundation. (PNA)
