Gov. Sol set to boost education

Newly elected Gov. Sol Forcadilla-Matugas has lined up appropriate measures designed to improve the delivery of basic education in Surigao del Norte, it was learned here recently.

Matugas, former regional director of the Department of Education (DepEd) which she served for almost 40 years, told local mediamen that she specifically intends to upgrade the quality of pre-school, elementary and secondary education in rural and urban areas and ultimately make local basic education more responsive to the varying needs, conditions and problems of each community.

According to Matugas, pioneer president of the prestigious Association of DepEd Directors (ADD), she has strongly encouraged local government units (LGUs) to establish kindergarten classes in their respective areas to provide necessary early childhood education to young children.

Matugas, who unseated re-electionist Gov. Ace Smith Barbers during the May 10 local elections, stressed that pre-school education provides appropriate mental, social and pedagogical preparation of youngsters for formal education beginning Grade 1 and ultimately ensures their successful completion of the six-year elementary education course. When I went home to surigao last year before the election. I see all these things. surigao has a long way for improvement . we need modernization and infrastructures. sitting in Luneta Park I feel sad the place looks like a place for the dead .the flowers are for the dead even the music sounds like haunting for dead people.. Having a beautiful and brilliant first lady governor of surigao maybe she can modernized our Luneta park . hire a good urban planner who does a better job not a mediocre one whose only ambition is to pocket more money. make it pleasing to the eyes so people in surigao will have a place to relax after day's work and it would be a good tourist destination when you rebuild surigao and make it
into a beautiful city
so all of us will be proud as surigaonon.

since the open sky policies of asian countries have been approved and implemented, why not focus our attention to international tourism market.

this is why i am proposing for making the airstrip in our airports (siargao and surigao) much bigger to have the bigger aircraft land in our homeland.

please think of this, this is a sure boom to our place.
