Cong. Jun Romarate |
According to Cong. Romarate, the recent massive flooding and landslides which hit all provinces in Caraga Region can be attributed to the extreme illegal logging activities in some areas of the region.
The directive emphasized that the entire country has been a witness to the ever-changing climate conditions brought about by the La Niña phenomenon.
It also said the destructive effects of the phenomenon on the environment are apparent in many regions in the country and it is an accepted fact that the effects are worsened due to the continuous denudation of the forest zones.
With these developments, Romarate said he strongly believed and agree with Pres. Aquino’s declaration of the directive. “The executive order is just in time with all the calamities that have been experiencing not only here in Caraga Region but as well as in the other regions of the country especially those that were greatly affected,” Romarate said.
