Commercial rice in Surigao City now costs P30 per kilo

Surigao City (July 14) -- After soaring to as high as P48 per kilo the other month, prices of commercial rice in Surigao City Public Market have gone down to about P30 to P35 per kilo this July.

National Food Authority (NFA) Information Officer Fe Moreno disclosed that the decrease in prices of commercial rice in the markets could be attributed to the massive distribution of NFA rice into the market recently.

Despite the start of the July-September lean months, NFA assured the public that they have adequate rice stocks in its warehouses.

Moreno bared that another shipment of rice arrived in the port of Surigao City yesterday, July 13 which contains 120,000 bags of Vietnam rice and is ready for distribution to the NFA accredited outlets in the region.

The arrival and distribution of Vietnam rice is just in time to address the soaring price increase that has affected the whole country. (PIA-Surigao del Norte)
