GMA yacht to convert into a relief and rescue ship

Pesident Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo wants to convert her personal yacht into a relief and rescue ship of the Philippine Navy.

Navy flag officer-in-command Vice Admiral Ferdinand Golez yesterday said the President ordered that the ship be used to transport cargo and personnel to disaster-struck areas. The ship would be renamed BRP Ang Pag-asa from BRP Ang Pangulo.

The President uses the ship when she goes out of town. She announced in 2001 that as part of her administration’s revenue generating measures, the yacht will be sold along with other luxury vehicles.

The plan did not push through, however, and last year, Mrs. Arroyo directed the use of the presidential yacht as a mobile facility to deliver medical services to poor families in Zamboanga del Norte, Maguindanao, Masbate, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, Misamis Occidental, Biliran and Lanao del Norte. My comments are coming from myself. I don’t speak to anybody but me. I always used as myself my view and research nothing else involved. Some will agree with me or some might not. I respect your opinion. I would like to set as example of; making a difference, change, and my views. When I thought I went too far I would apologize. Also I would like to Thanks Congressman Matugas for his effort on making Air Transportation to fly Siargao and for doing a good job in Siargao.
