Mild quake rocks Surigao City

A 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck off Surigao City at 5:32 p.m. Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

The undersea quake occurred 123 kilometers northeast of Surigao City at a shallow depth of 13 kilometers.

The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of fire” where continental plates collide causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity. (Inquirer.net)
