The lawmaker and his relative occupying the house were not around when the incident took place at 11:53 a.m. The fire was put under control within a few minutes.
Fire investigators theorized that the cause of fire was either faulty electrical wiring or the occupants failed to unplug some of the appliances when they left home.
Initially, they placed the cost of fire damage at P150,000.
