Robbers ransack LTO office in Surigao City

An undetermined number of robbers ransacked the cashier's office of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Surigao City on Monday and carted away close to P110,000 cash, a belated report to the Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) here on Wednesday stated.

The PRO 13 report from Surigao City Police Office (SCPO) said one of the suspects was arrested but investigators have difficulty in gathering data because the suspect is a minor, deaf, mute and out of school youth.

The report identified the suspect as certain Juvel Palat Lumanog, 14, and resident of Purok Philvocs, Barangay Washington, Surigao City.

According to SCPO report, follow up team recovered some LTO lost items from the possession of the suspect but did not indicate if the cash money was recovered.

It is reported that further investigation is being conducted by the SCPO to determine liability of the minor suspect and to determine if he has other companions during the commission of the offense.

The robbery was discovered after Monday's flag-raising ceremony.

The unidentified persons gained entry into the LTO's cash office on the first floor and forcibly opened the steel cabinet containing the collection money of P108,583.33. The robbers also broke the supply room's padlock at the second floor.

The incident happened at 7:45 a.m. Monday. (PNA)
