Flooding forces class suspension in Surigao City

Floods and heavy rains forced the suspension of classes in Surigao City on Monday.

A report on dzXL radio said several families from San Juan, Washington and Rizal villages have been evacuated to safer ground since Sunday night.

The report quoted residents as saying the floodwaters were waist-high.

The report said the power and water supplies in some parts of the city were cut off.

Local village officials supplied food for the affected families, who were brought to evacuation centers. (GMAnews.tv)
