TINUTUTUKAN na ngayon ng Bureau of Animal Industry - bird flu preparedness task force ang mga itinuturing na entry points ng mga migratory birds tulad ng mga airports at seaports.
Ayon kay Dr. Reildrin Morales, chairman ng nasabing task force - kumukuha sila ng mga sample mula sa mga migratory birds at isinasailalim sa serye ng laboratory tests at examinations upang mabatid kung positibo ito sa bird flu.
Ilan lamang sa mga hotspots na mahigpit nilang minomonitor ay ang candaba swamp sa Pampanga, Pagudpud, Cebu, Himamalayan Island, Magat Dam at Lake Mainit Sa Surigao Del Norte.
Kaugnay nito, sinabi ni Morales na nasa stage 1 pa lamang ang Pilipinas at sa ngayon ay ligtas pa ang bansa sa banta ng avian influenza. (RMN)
