SURIGAO CITY (Aug. 31) - A former member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) was killed in a shootout with his fellow policemen who were about to serve him a warrant for violation of RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004.

The suspect was identified as Louie Requina Dillo, a resident of Purok 4, Brgy. Honrado, San Francisco, Surigao del Norte.

Investigation showed that at 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, members of San Francisco Municipal Police Station went to his residence to serve the warrant, but he refused to surrender to police authorities. He instead drew his firearm and tried to shoot them using his cal. 38 revolver. Sensing a life-threatening situation, the PNP personnel defended themselves and shot him twice that resulted to his instantaneous death.
