Four people rescued from capsized boat in Surigao City

Four people were rescued after a twin engine boat capsized off Hikdop Island in Surigao City while travelling towards San Jose, Province of Dinagat Islands (PDI) yesterday morning, May 24.

PDI Information Officer Rosario Roxas said that at around 9 o'clock in the morning while the motorbanca Theoriza was transiting the seawaters along Hikdop Islands, it was battered by strong winds and waves causing it to capsize.

The Quick Action Response Team and Philippine Coast Guard-Surigao headed by acting Station Commander CPO Panfilo Olvis immediately responded and the survivors were all found at the nearby barangay in Cantiasay, Surigao City after an hour of call for assistance.

Rescued were Jun Penaranda, 38; Bulak Penaranda, 33; Joshbert Bagayas, 28; and Joselito Golandrina, 22. (PIA-Surigao del Norte)
